- ATTENDANCE: Regular attendance is important and is taken at each class. Please arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled class time. The Student of the Year Award is given to the student who demonstrates all-around excellence, including regular, prompt attendance. Missed classes may be made up within 30 days of the absence by attending another similar-level class.
- DRESS CODE: Black leotard, pink tights, and pink ballet shoes for ballet. Tap shoes for tap. Black tights are ok for Jazz and Tap. No bare midriffs or plastic pants. No excess jewelry. Hair pulled back, off the neck. No black-soled or street shoes are allowed on the dance floors. Men wear black and white. Intermediate level ballet students wear hair secured in buns with hair nets for ballet.
- REGISTRATION/TUITION: An annual registration fee of $25 applies to all students. Tuition is due the first class of each month, or at the beginning of the quarter. Statements/invoices will only be sent to past due account holders and will document late fees.
- INSURANCE: Dance Theatre Northwest does not carry medical insurance for its students. Students are required to have their own insurance. If injury occurs, it is understood that the students insurance is the only source of coverage.
- HOLIDAYS: Holiday vacations generally follow school schedules. Holiday dates and other closings will be posted. In the event of snow, please call to find out if the studio is closed. We also normally close Memorial Day, July 4th and October 31st.
- PRIVATE LESSONS: Private lessons are available to regularly enrolled students. The cost is $25 for 1/2 hour, $37 for 3/4 hour, $40for 1 hour.
- CLASS OBSERVATIONS: Parents of all except but viewing is often available for youth classes on lobby TV monitor.
- RECITAL: We plan to have a recital each year. Participants must be regularly enrolled students at DTN and must attend class on a regular basis. Students not enrolled full-time or who are chronically absent will not be eligible.
- COSTUME & RECITAL FEES: These fees must be paid in advance. Costume & choreography fees are usually from $50-70 per class or dance performed. Costs vary and some costumes will be rentals. We do our best to offer quality and to keep costume costs reasonable.
- VIDEO TAPING/PHOTOGRAPHY: Video taping or photographing the recital or any performance is not allowed. A professional will video tape the performances and VHS and/or DVD copies will be made available at a reasonable cost.
OTHER POLICIES:
- Students must follow dress code. Student must bring class card into class for each class attended.
- Students arriving more than 10 minutes late will not be able to participate in that class.
- Bring your own water bottle. No food or drinks except water allowed except in designated snack area.
- Do not leave dance bags or personal items in the dressing or eating areas. Take them into studios and store.
- Questions and Suggestions regarding our Dance Program are welcome, but please do not interrupt a class. Instructor consultations by appointment only.
